"She couldn't go back and make the details pretty, she could only move forward and make the whole beautiful." - Terri St. Cloud
As a woman who has volunteered for Election Day and Primary Elections for the past three years, today was the biggest bestest payoff ever. We had more than double voter turnout for our voting district, and if you counted kids that came with parents along with the other district that voted in our building, we had about 900 people come through our doors, in a tiny school foyer. Exhaustion never felt so worth it, and I said that even as I knew only that Obama had won in Pgh District 11-1. I went to bed after a bath and some wine, only to be awoken by whoops in the streets. And now I have a wonderful kind of insomnia, the kind that is like a kid on Christmas eve when you know you're getting a big bike. xo,SL(who will not apologize for going on so long.)
that is so beautiful sl! thank you for leaving some of your joy here! i had no one to party with - but i was doing the happy dance and thinking of you and my other online friends who have made standing for BO during this election so much easier. Yay us!!
